In the high-stakes world of nonprofit fundraising, Ken Jones’ methodology can be compared to that of Sherlock Holmes. Like the fictional literary character, Ken approaches situations by applying his powers of observation, investigation, and logic. Sherlock calls himself a “consulting detective” and Ken is a consultant too, although he doesn’t investigate crimes – instead, his expertise is focused on fundraising and capital campaign strategies.

Ken is the co-founder of Above Goal, a fundraising campaign software company. Above Goal assists fundraising consultants and nonprofit organizations with designing, launching, and running efficient and effective capital campaigns using its innovative proprietary technology.

Ken also consults his clients on data storytelling. This core competence is what led a leading organization to contact Ken to discuss how he could assist them with their mission: to accelerate the development of breakthrough immune therapies in the quest to turn all cancers into curable diseases. In essence, this organization intends to hack cancer, so that’s what Ken titled this project as he set out to see what’s possible.

“The goal is to ensure that data is not a bottleneck to decision making, performance management, resource planning, and goal setting,” Ken said. “Leaders must have easy access to data and specific insights that help their team successfully meet targets and manage up, down, and across the enterprise.”
